The Project
RDS 360 was commissioned to carry out a comprehensive 3D laser scan of the historic Fortnum & Mason building on Piccadilly, London. The goal was to capture the building to a Level of Detail (LOD) 400, providing highly detailed and accurate data to support refurbishment planning and long-term asset management.
The scope covered the full laser scanning of this Grade II-listed, multi-storey retail building, capturing architectural, structural, and selected services detail across every floor. Working within a live trading environment presented significant operational and logistical challenges, from restricted access windows to the need to protect the building's heritage fabric throughout.
The captured data was processed and modelled by our in-house BIM team, with regular client reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with LOD 400 standards. Despite the complexity of the environment, RDS 360 delivered the full scope on programme with no disruption to the business.
The result is a fully coordinated digital model that gives Fortnum & Mason a reliable foundation for future refurbishment, maintenance, and space planning across their landmark Piccadilly site.
